I am a second career assistant professor. I started off teaching in elementary schools for 11 years before I did my PhD. My graduate work is in the field of English, focusing on the use of children's (and YA) literature as a cultural marker. This summer, I attended a technology boot camp at my university which got me interested in how technology aids in teaching. I always thought I was a "beginner" in terms of technology but boot camp taught me that I know more than I thought I did. I'm currently experimenting with using PollEverywhere in my class this semester. Unfortunately, there is no one in my department who engages with technology. It gets a little lonely! However they seem willing to learn. I am also a avid fan of Dr. Who and Guitar Hero. Finally, I prefer Centipede to Galaga.
